The Vashon Green School is a place-based multi-age learning community located on 7 acres of farm and woodlands, on Vashon’s Westside. We offer a hands-on, hearts-on embodied curriculum rooted in practices that promote social intelligence and connection to the natural world. Our curriculum seeks to provide children with tools and support for living a full, balanced and creative life by giving equal value to each of the four windows of knowing: feeling, imagining, sensing and thinking. Mentors honor each child’s unique gifts and learning styles, supported by our small mentor-student ratio. VGS children, mentors and families journey together to create a learning community rooted in compassion, connection and gratitude.

When you enroll your child in VASHON GREEN SCHOOL, you are committing to making the payments according to the payment plan that you designate below.  If you withdraw your child, for any reason, before the end of the school year, you are still obligated to pay the full tuition.

Families who wish to leave VASHON GREEN SCHOOL before their contract ends must present their reason in writing. They must also attend a conference with VASHON GREEN SCHOOL mentors to discuss their reasons and allow instructors to address outstanding issues. VASHON GREEN SCHOOL staff and families commit to working through conflicts. 

As a parent/guardian to a child(ren) in VASHON GREEN SCHOOL, you also become a member and role model in this learning community.  You play a vital role in creating the container within which the children of VASHON GREEN SCHOOL thrive and grow.  There are myriad ways that parents/guardians do this, above and beyond what is defined here.  Parents are strongly encouraged to sign up for a role in some of these essential VASHON GREEN SCHOOL practices/activities throughout the school year:

  1. Seasonal Celebrations: Deeply rooted in the natural cycles, these gatherings nurture our connection to each other and the environment that sustains us.  

  2. Annual Work Party: An opportunity for the whole family to join with the rhythms of the land on which your child learns and grows.Time to strengthen connection to this place and the other families of VGS.

  3. Field Trips/Events: Children thrive on seeing the family members of their friends, sharing experiences and enjoying each other.  Field trips, and the Year End Ceremony are another way we do this. 

  4. Fundraising: A core element in the healthy functioning of this community. All families are expected to participate in the VASHON GREEN SCHOOL Fundraising efforts. VGS is committed to equity and reparations in education.

  5. Reading Lab and Hands-on Activities: Help support students’ learning during the school day as a volunteer.

  6. Pandemic Protocols:  In an effort to keep our school community and our communities beyond safe, VGS families are asked to support the decisions made by VGS concerning public health protocols.  As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of our time, VGS will continue to prioritize in-person learning and take the necessary precautions.

 Tuition:  $8500.  (Tuition for students enrolled after June 1 is $8800)

 $900. Non-Refundable Deposit due with Enrollment,  June 1, 2025 (applied to tuition)

 First day of school:          September 15, 2025

 Tuition Payment Options (please circle the option you are committing to)

1. One payment: $7,600.  due July 1, 2025 (after enrollment deposit of $900.)  

2. Three payments: $2,533./each due July 1, October 1, and February 1, 2025-26 (after enrollment deposit of $900.) 

3. Ten Payments: $760/each due monthly July-April  (after enrollment deposit of $900.) 

 

Payments received after due dates for any plan will incur a $25 late fee applied to the next payment.

 Financial Aid

Financial aid decisions are based on Vashon Green School’s commitment to equity in education.  Please take into consideration that the current tuition amounts are already set at a level to make the program more accessible. Furthermore, we rely on fundraising for all scholarship and financial aid funding. If you need assistance and have family and friends who can help support your child’s tuition, we request you access those funds directly. “It takes a village.”  To request financial assistance from VGS send an email to vashongreenschool@gmail.com   If you can pay more than the standard tuition and want to support our mission of equity in education, please email me.
